Indiana Athletics 2019

I interned with the Cuban Center during a summer break from graduate classes. In Bloomington, I collaborated with IU’s graphic design team to create print and social content ranging from souvenir cups to Snapchat filters.

Inspiration: 45º angles and candy stripes. The outer pillars of the IU Trident are composed with 45º angles. In the 1960s, Legendary coaches James “Doc” Counsilman and Hobie Billingsley began outfitting their swimmers and divers in candy stripes. Counsilman and Billingsley unwittingly created an iconic IU design that was popularized during the men’s basketball team’s inaugural season in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Including both symbols in compositions served as an acknowledgement to the institution’s valuable history.
